چکیده

Hepatitis C infection is a leading etiology of hepatic dysfunction and major indication for liver transplantation due to the development fibrosis, cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma. Nonalcoholic fatty disease (NAFLD) and, specifically, its subtype nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) rising cause disease. It predicted surpass hepatitis as transplant. The introduction direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) decreased prevalence chronic infections, but obesity epidemic metabolic syndrome have increased NASH. Weight loss dietary modifications are recommended NASH therapies, unlike C, federally approved agents lacking currently under investigation. Clinical trials face many barriers in treatment because difficulty diagnosis lack standardized accurate clinical histologic responses. Mortality morbidity heightened presence multiple comorbidities including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, renal dysfunction. A transplant may be indicated, thorough screening candidates, comprehensive assessment, essential ensuring successful outcomes pre- post-transplant. Therapeutic warranted before it becomes significant mortality worldwide.

Recurrence of Disease Following Liver Transplantation: Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis vs Hepatitis C Virus Infection

BACKGROUND Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is an increasing indication for orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) in the United States and other countries. However, the incidence of disease recurrence and natural course following OLT remains incompletely understood. OBJECTIVE To estimate the incidence of recurrent disease, outcome and identify risk factors associated with disease recurren...

Changes in the Prevalence of Hepatitis C Virus Infection, Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis, and Alcoholic Liver Disease Among Patients With Cirrhosis or Liver Failure on the Waitlist for Liver Transplantation.

BACKGROUND & AIMS Concurrent to development of more effective drugs for treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, there has been an increase in the incidence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Data indicate that liver transplantation prolongs survival times of patient with acute hepatitis associated with alcoholic liver disease (ALD). We compared data on disease prevalence in the popula...

We aim to study the impact of the baby boomer (BB) generation, a birth-specific cohort (born 1945-1965) on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)-related liver transplantation (LT) in patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV), alcoholic liver disease (ALD), and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). We performed a retrospective analysis using the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS)/Organ Procure...

Methods: A Medline search of the medical literature (1990 to September 1998) and cross-refere...
